Soap and water just doesn't work. At least not for long, it may clean up a spill, or some dirt for a while. It is actually better if you do not use “Soap.” Just think of this, can you imagine washing your car without rinsing off the soap properly? That sticky residue sits there attracting dirt, and grime. That is basically the same effect that you get when you “Soap” your carpet. You cannot get that soap residue off, and it will make your carpet stiff, and sticky and will attract dirt even faster than before.

So, what is this hot water carpet cleaning system:

Our patented Hot Water Extraction System utilizes super heated water and a water softener to remove dirt and bacteria without soap or harsh chemicals. Here is the thing we just don’t need it. How often should I have Steamatic San Antonio Carpet Cleaning come out to my home?

We recommend a minimum of twice per year. That will keep your carpets to look their best. It will also prolong the life of your carpet.

We don’t just do carpets, oriental and area rugs can be picked up from your home and cleaned in our facility. We will use the very same hot-water extraction method that we use for your carpets. Steamatic will then return your rugs to your clean, dry and fresh.

If you have to “Spot” clean between visits here are some helpful tips:

Creating a Solution:
Detergent Solution --One teaspoonful of a colorless, mild detergent in one cup of lukewarm water.
Ammonia Solution --One tablespoon of clear household ammonia in one-half cup of water.
Vinegar Solution --One-third cup of white household vinegar in two-thirds cup of water.
P/V Remover --Paint, varnish or grease remover available in most hardware stores. (*Use sparingly and DO NOT pour directly onto fabric or fibers.  P/V Remover can dissolve the glue that holds the layers of carpet together resulting in delamination and a possible bubbling of the carpet.)

The “Usual Suspects” and how to clean them:

BLOOD - STAIN:  Red to dark brown, stiffens when dry.

1. Apply COOL detergent solution, blot
2. Apply COOL ammonia solution, blot
3. Rinse with water, blot dry

CHEWING GUM - STAIN:  Grey, pink, sticky

1. Harden gum with ice cube; when brittle scrape off
2. Apply P/V remover, blot (see above description)
3. Rinse with water, blot dry

CRAYONS - STAIN:  Any color, shiny, waxy

1. Remove excess
2.  Apply P/V remover, blot
3.  Apply detergent solution, blot
4. Rinse with water, blot dry

FRUIT JUICE - STAIN:  Yellow or color of fruit, absorbed appearance

1. Apply detergent solution, blot
2. Apply ammonia solution, blot
3. Apply vinegar solution, blot
4. Rinse with water, blot dry

MUD - STAIN:  Grey, brown, stiff when dry

1. Let dry, remove excess
2. Apply detergent solution, blot
3. Rinse with water, blot dry

URINE - STAIN:    Yellow, brown, darkens with age

1. Apply detergent solution, blot
2. Apply vinegar solution, blot
3. Rinse with water, blot dry

VOMIT -  STAIN:  Various colors, built up on surface

1. Remove excess
2. Apply detergent solution, blot
3. Apply ammonia solution, blot
4. Rinse with water, blot dry
